On February 5th, 2024, our beautiful Mia—our brave “medical unicorn”—gained her wings after a courageous battle with Heterotaxy Syndrome. Mia’s strength, light, and magical spirit inspired everyone who knew her, and now we run in her honor. Heterotaxy Syndrome is a rare and complex condition that affects the arrangement of the body’s organs and is often associated with serious heart defects. It occurs in roughly 1 in 10,000 births, yet many have never heard of it. The journey for families affected by Heterotaxy is filled with medical challenges, uncertainty, and the need for greater awareness
